White House Council of Economic Advisers Chair Stephen Miran spoke to reporters about the U.S. economy and the July 2025 jobs report showing that only 73,000 jobs were added and that the unemployment rate rose from 4.1% to 4.2%. "There were elements of it we didn't love," Mr. Miran said, but he added that trade deals and the recent tax cuts bill would serve as strong economic "tailwinds." He also emphasized the need to cut interest rates to help spur growth.
