"Renee had a way of showing up in the world that made you believe everything was going to be okay," said Brent Ganger, brother of Renee Good, who was fatally shot in her car by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in Minneapolis on January 7, 2026. Mr. Ganger appeared alongside his brother, Luke Ganger, at a meeting hosted by House and Senate Democrats to examine the tactics of Department of Homeland Security immigration enforcement agents. Also testifying were several U.S. citizens who recounted their encounters with immigration agents. Among those sharing their stories were Aliyah Rahman, a disabled U.S. citizen with autism from Minneapolis who was dragged from her vehicle and denied medical care while in detention. Additionally, the members also heard from Marimar Martinez, a U.S. citizen from Chicago, who was shot five times by Customs and Border patrol agents during an enforcement operation as she was going to her neighborhood church to deliver a charity donation.
