Journalists, including Don Lemon and Joy Reid, joined state lawmakers and policy advocates for a discussion co-hosted by URL Media and the National Association of Broadcasters on Black-owned independent media and the upcoming midterm elections. Several topics were addressed, including the role of independent media in communities, uplifting Black journalists, countering misinformation and disinformation, and political outreach and civic engagement. Also participating in the conversation were U.S House candidate Justin Pearson (D-TN) and Planned Parenthood President and CEO Alexis McGill Johnson.
