Hearing on Insurance Industry's Practices After Natural Disasters, Part 1

A Senate Homeland and Governmental Affairs subcommittee held a hearing on the insurance industry's practices following natural disasters. In this first portion of the hearing, homeowners accused Allstate and State Farm insurance companies of misconduct, alleging that these companies engaged in fraudulent practices by lowballing estimates on houses that were severely damaged. Also, property adjusters testified that these companies instructed them to revise fact-based claim estimates that were deemed too high for the companies to pay to homeowners.
