Hilary Duff Opens Up About Battling An Eating Disorder At 17

Hilary Duff has opened up about battling an eating disorder when she was 17 years old in a recent interview with Women’s Health Australia. The Disney Channel star revealed that, “because of my career path, I can’t help but be like, ‘I am on camera and actresses are skinny”. Duff suffered from a “horrifying" eating disorder when she was 17 years old but she has since developed a healthy relationship with her body. The 35-year-old is appreciating her health and doing activities that make her “feel strong instead of just bettering the outside of [her] body”. Duff says that spending time with people who make her “feel good” and “share similar views on health and body positivity” also helps. Duff’s personal trainer Dominic Leeder explained that although the actress cares about health and fitness it’s not her main priority. What's more important to her is her family and work. When she comes home from work, she wants to spend time with her family because she spends very little time with them when she's hard at work, so every moment counts, Dominic Leeder, personal trainer to Hilary Duff.
