CM Eknath Shinde’s ‘maha’ fuel relief; Petrol price slashed by Rs 5 & diesel gets cheaper

In a big relief for common people, Eknath Shinde led Maharashtra govt has slashed the VAT on fuel prices. Petrol will now cost ₹ 5 less and diesel ₹ 3 less in the state. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde said the cut in Value Added Tax (VAT) will cost the state ₹ 6,000 crore a year, but it will bring down overall inflation. Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis said the decision was part of the Shiv Sena-BJP government’s commitment to people’s welfare. With the reduction in VAT, petrol will now be available at ₹106.35 per liter instead of ₹111.35 in Mumbai and diesel will be available at ₹94.28 per litre instead of ₹97.28. Slight variations are possible as there are other components at play when oil companies set the daily price. Details in this report
