Newly released video shows a Pasadena police officer accidentally shooting and seriously injuring a fellow officer during what Police Chief Gene Harris described as "unsafe, out-of-policy horseplay" in a department parking garage on Sept. 7, 2025. According to officials, one officer briefly pointed a handgun at a patrol car before holstering it, after which the officer inside the vehicle drew his own weapon and unintentionally fired a round through the windshield, striking the other officer in the shoulder. The injured officer later recovered from his wounds.
