Following the Senate Democratic weekly caucus lunch meeting, Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and other party leaders spoke to reporters about the Democratic and Republican health care bills up for a vote on December 11. The Democratic measure would extend Affordable Care Act enhanced subsidies for three years. The GOP proposal, sponsored by Senate Finance Committee Chair Mike Crapo (R-ID) and Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee Chair Bill Cassidy (R-LA), would give health savings account funding to those with bronze or catastrophic ACA health insurance plans. Senator Schumer called the GOP bill "dead on arrival" and said the Democratic proposal is the only realistic path to prevent health care from going up. In addition, Leader Schumer discussed the military strikes in the Caribbean ahead of a briefing from Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.
