Books That Shaped America: Books That Shaped America: [The Federalist]

In part one of Books That Shaped America, an Arizona State University professor and a U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces judge explored [The Federalist], an 1788 collection of essays authored by Alexander Hamilton, James Madison and John Jay under the pseudonym "Publius" to promote the ratification of the U.S. Constitution. Library of Congress historian Julie Miller showed letters between James Madison and Thomas Jefferson. The program also includes a walking tour of the New York City location where Hamilton wrote his essays. Books That Shaped America is a 10-part series, created in partnership with the Library of Congress, that examines major works of literature that have had a significant impact on the country and public policy.
