Kochi: All shutters of Bhoothathankettu Dam have been raised. No significant increase in the water level of Periyar has been reported since the dam shutters were raised. The Water Authority department has said that there is no need to worry if the rains are not getting strong. The Irrigation department has sought permission to close the dam shutters following the decrease in the water levels of Periyar after the deluge. The Idukki and Idamalayar dam shutters have been decided to open. It was in the light of this, the authorities have decided to raise the shutters of Bhoothathankettu dam.
