Rescue teams search for capsized yacht off coast of Sicily in Italy

Rescue teams have intensified their search efforts for a capsized yacht off the coast of Sicily, Italy. Footage shows the aerial rescue operation for the 183ft vessel named Bayesian, which sank while carrying 22 people, including British, American, and Canadian nationals. British tech tycoon Mike Lynch, the 'British Bill Gates', and his 18-year-old daughter are among the six people missing following the incident in the early hours of Monday morning. Divers have identified wreckage 50 metres below the water's surface. Local media reported that the yacht capsized around 5 am after encountering a severe storm overnight that caused waterspout tornados in the area. On-site efforts include firefighters, divers, motorboats, and a helicopter from the Catania aviation unit conducting surface searches. Fifteen people have been rescued, including Lynch's wife, Angela Bacares, who owned the boat. The Italian coastguard confirmed that eight of those rescued are receiving treatment in hospital, and one person has been confirmed dead. Additional cave diving specialists from Rome, Cagliari, Sassari, and Naples are en route to assist in searching inside the sunken vessel. The western half of the Mediterranean has experienced severe storms since the middle of last week, with bad weather affecting the north coast of Sicily through Sunday night and into Monday morning. Waterspouts, which are tornado-like formations over water, are intensely dangerous because they can cause severe damage to vessels and coastal areas.
