Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Joint Chiefs of Staff Chair Gen. Dan Caine held a news conference from the Pentagon a day after a two-week ceasefire with Iran was announced. They shared the objectives of the ceasefire and gave an overview of military action in Iran, stating that the defense industrial base was "decimated." Additionally, they addressed troops being on the ground to rescue fighter-pilots and discussed opening the Strait of Hormuz. Regarding the ceasefire, Secretary Hegseth stressed U.S. troops were not going anywhere and would continue "hanging around" in the region to make sure the ceasefire stands.
