During the State of the Union on Feb. 24, President Trump issued a dire warning about Iran claiming the country was rebuilding its nuclear weapons program and working to build an intercontinental missile that could inevitably reach the United States. Last year, the US dropped 14 bunker-buster bombs on Iran’s nuclear sites in what was dubbed “Operation Midnight Hammer” — the biggest ever attack by B-2 Spirit stealth bombers, and the longest flight the aircraft have made since 2001. But according to the Trump administration, Iran has been laboriously rebuilding its nuclear facilities, and threatening US national security. So how worried should the US be about Iran’s weapons capabilities? We asked Andrea Stricker, the Nonproliferation Program Deputy Director at The Foundation for Defense of Democracies.
