T'puram: The Kerala finance minister Thomas Issac introduced the flood cess in the state budget 2019-20 here on Thursday. The new cess will be in force for two years. It is reported that 0.25 percent flood cess will be imposed on gold, silver, platinum. At the same time, small scale products are excluded from the flood cess. Flood cess will not be levied on products which come under GST tax slab of 5 percent and below. However, with the new budget, prices of electronic products, other luxury products and all kinds of motor vehicles also will go up. The increase of land fair value by ten percent would hike the expenses on land registration. As is usual, the tax on IMFL has also been hiked.
