Dr. Maria Van Kerkhove of the World Health Organization says, "This is not coronavirus," referring to the Hantavirus outbreak aboard a Dutch cruise ship sailing from Argentina to Cape Verde. "We know this virus," Kerkhove says. She says Hantavirus is different from COVID in that it is rarely transmitted from person to person and only through "close, intimate contact." Kerkhove also says there's a lot that is being done aboard the ship to minimize risk even further. The virus-stricken ship is now headed to the Canary Islands.
