Nepal storms kill 20 amid landslides and surging rivers

Footage shows the Bijaypur River on the outskirts of Pokhara, Nepal, amid storms that have killed at least 20 people in two days across the county. The torrential weather has seen heavy rain, landslides and lightning across the mountainous country, which seems monsoons from mid-June to mid-September every year. Officials warned residents living in villages along the river to be extra cautious. The government issued a warning, saying: 'Due to heavy rainfall since yesterday, the settlements around the Bijaypur River were in danger and the road was blocked due to landslide on the highway. We request all the people of Pokhara Metropolitan to please be vigilant.'
