Senator Bernie Sanders visited the protest outside a shelter for migrant children in Homestead, Florida, this morning, ahead of the presidential debate Thursday evening. He said the United States should not be locking up the children for crossing the border illegally. He would not answer questions about how he would stop illegal immigration, other than to say he would convene a meeting of leaders in the Western Hemisphere to address the root causes of migration.
