NASA, UAE partner on space station orbiting moon

NASA and the UAE are partnering on a lunar project to build the world's first moon-orbiting space station, called Gateway. The Gateway is a crucial part of NASA's long-term moon exploration under the Artemis program. The UAE's Mohammed bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) will provide an airlock module for Gateway to aid crew and research transfers. US Vice President Kamala Harris, National Space Council chair, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration. MBRSC will not only provide the airlock but also offer engineering support for the lunar space station's lifespan. The UAE plans to send one of its astronauts on a future Artemis mission. NASA emphasised the airlock's importance, enabling groundbreaking science in deep space and supporting future Mars missions.
