Berlin police deployed water cannons on June 27 to spray cooling mist over residents as temperatures reached 100°F (38°C) during an extreme heatwave sweeping Europe. The scorching weather has pushed temperatures above 104°F (40°C) in parts of the continent, with Germany recording a preliminary all-time high of 106.3°F (41.3°C) near Saarbruecken on June 26.
