Prime Minister Boris Johnson has dismissed claims he approved the controversial airlift of animals from Afghanistan as “total rhubarb”. His comment came after a minister was forced to defend the Prime Minister over claims that he personally authorised the evacuation of almost 200 cats and dogs from Afghanistan when thousands of people were struggling to escape the country before it fell to the Taliban.
