Campaign 2026: U.S. House Candidate Paul LePage (R-ME) Holds Press Conference

New Hampshire Republican U.S. House candidate Paul LePage held a press conference with House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) in Auburn. Mr. LePage, who formerly served as Maine governor from 2011-19, said that he was not running because he needed a job but rather to create jobs in Maine. Speaker Johnson said that the 2026 general election was especially important because of the rise of the Democratic Socialists of America. The event was followed by questions from the press where Speaker Johnson spoke on border security and LePage emphasized his ability to serve. LePage would face Democratic sate auditor Matt Dunlap in the general election, which the nonpartisan Cook Political Report rated "Likely Republican."
