A pedestrian suspension bridge reportedly holding around 400-500 people collapsed in Morbi, India, Sunday. At least 134 people have been reported dead with hundreds of others rescued from the Machchhu river where the bridge collapsed. The bridge was first opened in 1879 and was recently reopened after months of renovations. CCTV footage captured the moment the bridge snapped. Early reports allege a group of individuals were “shaking the bridge", when the cables snapped. Police have launched an investigation and have arrested 9 people who include ticketing clerks, security guards, and managerial staff for failing to regulate the large crowds.
