Belfast restaurant owner slams new Covid-19 restrictions on hospitality industry

Allowing restaurants to reopen without serving alcohol is a “crazy” idea, one of Northern Ireland’s leading restaurateurs said. Stormont ministers discussed the latest coronavirus measures on Monday. Michael Deane runs a series of well-known establishments in Belfast. He said: “I think it is absolutely crazy. “Along with all the other restrictions that the Government has put in, we are already down about 50%. “The rule of six, the three-household thing and now all of a sudden the 11 o’clock curfew and no alcohol. “Where does that leave us to go? Absolutely devastating and I think it is criminal, I think it is absolutely stupid.”
