This start-up uses microbes to produce clean fuels and more from waste

Cemvita’s bioengineered microbes feed on waste CO2 and turn it into a variety of valuable and sustainable materials. Cemvita has a spin-off called Gold H2 which uses a special unit to pump its microbes into depleted oil wells. The tiny organisms eat the CO2 in the residual fossil fuels and convert it into what Gold H2 calls ‘gold hydrogen’.
