Speaker Johnson on Day 14 of Government Shutdown

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) held a news conference with other Republican leaders on day 14 of a government shutdown. He and his colleagues continued to criticize Democrats over their refusal to pass a GOP-sponsored "clean" continuing resolution that would fund the government temporarily until full legislation is completed. Speaker Johnson, however, claimed he had "no strategy" on ending the shutdown and said he would not "play the Democrats' game." He also praised President Trump for brokering a peace deal between Hamas and Israel, announcing he would join an effort to nominate the president for the Nobel Peace Prize.
