Reel America: [Amistad - The Federal Courts and the Challenge to Slavery]

This documentary details the complicated legal battle that resulted after an 1839 slave ship mutiny in the Caribbean that landed the ship in Connecticut, and eventually landed the case before the U.S. Supreme Court. It is produced by the Federal Judicial Center, the research and education agency of the U.S. judicial branch. Part of its mission is developing educational programs about the history of the U.S. federal courts.
