Bentley lights up Design Miami 2014

Italian light artist Massimo Uberti was commissioned by British carmaker Bentley to create an installation at the 2014 edition of Design Miami. Inspired by the neon-lit vehicle audit bays at Bentley’s factory in Crewe, England, and realised in the artist’s trademark white neon tubing, Uberti has created the stark outline of a room furnished with a table and chair.

The minimal but transfixing installation, called ‘Element of Light’, was commissioned as part of Bentley Elements, a new programme of planned artist collaborations initiated by the auto brand that span art, design and technology and will result in an original commission from a craftsperson or artist being produced each year.

Set up to celebrate the innovation and craftsmanship inherent within the Bentley brand, the Elements series is the brainchild of Duncan Campbell and Charlotte Rey of creative consultancy Campbell-Rey.
