Gov. Gretchen Whitmer Commencement Address at Michigan State University

Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D) gave a commencement address at Michigan State University in East Lansing. She shared with graduates three lessons she learned while attending MSU, which are the importance of trying hard, being open-minded, and remembering to "cherish the good" and that bad times do not last. She also said she discovered her love for politics by accident, when she decided to do an internship at the Michigan Capitol because "it seemed different and interesting. It was a detour, but it ended up being the scenic route that changed my destination. Graduates, take the detour and enjoy the journey. You'll never know where you'll end up."
