Thiruvananthapuram: The MET department on Friday informed that depression has been formed in the Arabian Sea. They said that it will strengthen in next 12 hours and heavy rains will occur in Kerala from Saturday. It is learned that depression will intensify into cyclonic storm in the next 36 hours and move towards Oman Coast thereafter. The cyclone though, might not affect Kerala directly. But, heavy rain and wind might occur in Kerala in the next 5 days. Wind speed reaching 50 kmph has been forecasted in Kerala. The disaster management force conducted meetings in all districts to evaluate the situation of opening dams. Fishermen have been instructed to return by evening and not to venture into the sea till another notice.
