Man accused of tossing fireworks at cops hides face after leaving LA courtroom

A 24-year-old man accused of throwing fireworks at police officers and firefighters back in June, hid his face after leaving a courtroom in Los Angeles March 24. William Rubio, who’s been charged with two felony counts, each of assault upon a peace officer and use of a destructive device to injure or destroy, faces up to nearly a decade in prison if convicted. District Attorney Nathan Hochman said at the time of Rubio’s arrest that the fireworks were, “basically a half a stick of dynamite, these are lethal devices.”
