American History TV took a rare behind-the-scenes tour of George Washington's Mount Vernon mansion as the house undergoes extensive work to preserve the 18th century structure, which draws one million visitors a year. Mount Vernon's Director of Preservation, Thomas Reinhart, was the guide through some of the most private spaces in our first president's home.
