International Monetary Fund Managing Director on the Global Economic Outlook

"Resilience is being tested again by the reboot of the global trading system," said International Monetary Fund Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva as she addressed the current global economic outlook in the traditional Curtain Raiser Speech ahead of the annual spring meeting. The director touched on several topics, including the impact of tariffs, saying, " it seems clear that the U.S. effective tariff rate has jumped to levels last seen several lifetimes ago, and other countries have responded." Following her speech, Ms. Georgieva expanded on her remarks during a conversation with Fox Business' Maria Bartiromo.
