White House Daily Briefing

"President Trump and the first lady encourage the entire nation to join all of us in praying for the victims and their families as they face unimaginable grief and loss," said White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt on the mass shooting at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis that left two children dead and 14 other children and three adults injured. The press secretary's comments came as she began her remarks at the start of the White House daily briefing. She said the shooting was being investigated by the FBI as an act of domestic terrorism and a hate crime. When asked about the firing of Centers for Disease Control Director Susan Monarez, Ms. Leavitt said it was clear that the microbiologist "was not aligned with the president's mission to make America healthy again," and that he had every right to fire the director. Other topics included Russia's recent drone strikes in Ukraine, the firing of Federal Reserve Board Gov. Lisa Cook, immigration policy, and crime.
