The EU Wants to Have Completely Recyclable Packaging by 2030

40% of plastics and 50% of paper in the EU are used in packaging. The average European accounts for almost 180kg of packaging waste every year. EU’s proposed recyclable packaging rules will ban unnecessary packaging, such as single-use food and drink sachets in restaurants, for fruits and vegetables, and miniature soap and shampoo bottles in hotels. This measure for recyclable packaging will also promote reusable packaging, create compulsory return schemes for cans and bottles, and more.
