Is a low-traffic neighbourhood a good idea?

Local councils across the UK have begun to implement low-traffic neighbourhood (LTN) schemes, with aims of lowering the amount of vehicle use, and therefore accidents, noise and pollution. It comes as the Government, back in May, announced a £2 billion package to boost greener, active transport. Statutory guidance was fast tracked, allowing councils to reallocate roadspace to cyclists and pedestrians. Some roads have been fully pedestrianised and parking places have been removed, while others only allow certain vehicles to use certain roads with fines put in place if rules are broken.
