Summer is about to start with a strawberry glow. This month's full moon is known as the Strawberry Moon. The moon will be at its fullest on Friday, June 21, one day after the summer solstice. The full moon's proximity to the date of the solstice gives it its 'strawberry' visual effect. June's full moon will be the lowest of the year as it mirrors the sun, which will be at its highest position of the year. The Strawberry Moon is also the farthest full moon from the sun of the year because of the Earth's current slightly elliptical orbit of the sun. This full moon has Native American origins and gets its name from the wild strawberries that ripen every June. Other names for June's full moon include Rose Moon and Flower Moon.
