Pedro Pascal has reflected on calling JK Rowling a “heinous loser,” saying he wrestled with whether speaking out would actually help protect the trans community. In April, after Rowling celebrated a UK Supreme Court ruling that trans women aren't legally women, Pascal called her response “heinous LOSER behavior” and “so awful.” She had posted a photo on Instagram of herself on a boat with a cigar in her hand, captioned, “I love it when a plan comes together." The ruling, which Rowling backed, restricts trans women from joining female-only boards and accessing single-sex spaces in the UK. In a recent Vanity Fair interview, Pascal reflected on his comments on Rowling and the weight behind them. “The one thing… I agonized over a little bit was just, ‘Am I helping? Am I f***ing helping?’ It’s a situation that deserves the utmost elegance so that something can actually happen, and people will actually be protected. Listen, I want to protect the people I love, but it goes beyond that. Bullies make me f***ing sick.” Pedro Pascal Pascal's sister Lux is trans, and he has vocally defended the trans community since she came out in 2021. Rowling denies being transphobic but has misgendered trans women in the past, and said she’d “rather go to jail” than use preferred pronouns.
