Boeing 737 blown away from gate during storm in Texas

A Boeing 737 was blown away from the gate as a storm battered the Dallas Fort Worth International Airport in Texas on Tuesday evening. The American Airlines plane was parked for passengers to board at gate C21 when it was battered by wind and rain during the servere thunderstorms sweeping through the region. CCTV footage shows the aircraft detaching from the passenger boarding bridge and then rolling across the tarmac. Officials said the storms, which brought 80mph winds, caused a quarter of flights to be delayed and five per cent to be cancelled. An American Airlines spokesman said: 'Severe weather, including straight-line wind, gusts up to 80 mph, at our Dallas Fort Worth (DFW) hub affected several parked unoccupied aircraft. 'There were no injuries. Our maintenance team is currently conducting thorough inspections and will make any needed repairs.'
