Delta Flight To Detroit Turns Back After Maggots Fall On Passengers

A Delta Air Lines flight bound for Detroit was forced to return to Amsterdam after maggots started falling from a bag. The airline stated that the incident occurred due to an “improperly packed carry-on bag." However, reports suggest it was due to a passenger bringing rotting fish onboard that fell from the overhead luggage. As a result, flight DL133 from Amsterdam to Detroit was asked to return, and a passenger was detained for bringing rotting fish on board. Passengers were compensated with 8,000 air miles, hotel accommodations and meal vouchers. Delta apologized for the disruption, stating that the aircraft was taken out of service for cleaning. "We apologize to the customers of Flight 133 on Feb. 13 as their trip was interrupted due to an improperly packed carry-on bag. The aircraft returned to the gate and customers were placed on the next available flight. The aircraft was removed from service for cleaning," said Delta in a statement.
