Sens. King, Lankford, Kaine on Civics Education and Democracy

Senators Angus King (I-ME), Tim Kaine (D-VA), and James Lankford (R-OK) participated in a Brookings Institution discussion on civic education and democracy. The senators examined the Constitution and the importance of teaching civics to students. They also spoke about the Civics Act of 2025, a bipartisan bill to bolster civics education resources for schools, which was introduced by Sen. King and cosponsored by Sens. Kaine and Lankford. That bill was still working its way through Congress at the time of the discussion.
