This solar panel can repair itself in space

Solar panels have been made from silicon since the 1950s. They’re used to power satellites and other spacecraft but in space, they are bombarded by harsh solar radiation. This damages silicon panels, reducing their efficiency significantly. The new panel is being developed by scientists at the University of Sydney. It’s made from a mineral called perovskite. Perovskite is lighter and cheaper than silicon, making it ideal for use in space.
