Following Senate Republicans' weekly caucus lunch meeting, Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) announced that the Senate would vote on December 11 on a Republican alternative bill to Democrats' proposal to extend expiring Affordable Care Act subsides for an additional three years. The measure, sponsored by Senate Finance Committee Chair Mike Crapo (R-ID) and Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee Chair Bill Cassidy (R-LA), would give health savings account funding to those with bronze or catastrophic ACA health insurance plans.
