'Squad'-backed Lefty influencer Kat Abughazaleh crashes and burns in Illinois House primary

A Palestinian-American progressive influencer has come up short in her Democratic House primary bid in Illinois’ 9th district. The election loser, the radical 26-year-old leftist Kat Abughazaleh, was running in a crowded primary of 15 Democrats jockeying to succeed Democratic Rep. Jan Schakowsky, who announced her retirement in May. Abughazaleh, who formerly worked for left-wing organization Media Matters, caused a buzz among dems for her hard line leftist views, like instituting universal single-payer healthcare, stopping mass deportations of illegal immigrants, removing all caps on refugee resettlement programs, and supporting a sovereign Palestinian state. Frontrunner Evanston Mayor Daniel Biss ended up taking the primary win, even after he shockingly admitted a few hours before polls opened to having an “ill-advised” relationship with a former student while working as a professor at the University of Chicago.
