Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) held a news conference on day 15 of the government shutdown. He was joined by Republican leadership, Main Street Caucus leadership, and GOP veteran members who discussed the impact the shutdown had on servicemembers. During the press conference, Speaker Johnson called out senators representing states with the most active-duty military populations, stating that out of the 10 largest military populations, six were represented by Democrats. The speaker also commented on Democratic members of Congress protesting outside his office in what he characterized as a "political stunt." In addition, he responded to questions on accusations against Rep. Cory Mills (R-FL).
