Countries including Pakistan are calling for ‘loss and damage’ finance to recover from extreme weather events. In summer 2022, Pakistan suffered floods that displaced 32 million people and killed more than 1,700 people. The catastrophe also caused $40 billion in damages to farms and homes, businesses and infrastructure.
