After his arrest, Lane was taken to the Spartanburg County Detention Center, he was reportedly combative and non-compliant according to the incident report. Lane suffered from mental illness, specifically, schizophrenia. Lane was taken to jail at 10:20 Sunday night, but by 5:04 the following morning on October 3, he was dead.
