U.S unwilling to end travel ban on Taliban; Shelter to Zawahiri ‘erodes’ Biden’s confidence

As per sources to HT, U.S's anger over al-Qaeda chief Ayman al-Zawahiri’s presence in Kabul is the main reason behind Washington's decision to not extend a UN waiver allowing Taliban officials to travel abroad. Zawahiri was found to be sheltered in a Kabul house owned by a top aide to Taliban deputy leader and interior minister Sirajuddin Haqqani. Zawahiri's presence in Kabul meant that U.S no longer trusts Taliban regime.
