ELITE BLOCKING IN VOLLEYBALL

ELITE BLOCKING IN VOLLEYBALL Learn volleyball skills and volleyball practice from Dr. Gylton Da Matta, a member of the International Volleyball Federation technical development committee. Watch how to integrate this drill into your volleyball lessons. The elite blocking drill is a challenging drill in which all the blockers need to read and anticipate what the setters are going to do. The key challenge is to close the block (double or triple block) in every set performed. Nowadays most players follow stats and guess probabilities of where the set will go. However, in this drill, we teach all blockers to read the setters. Anticipation and reading are key, not the guessing part. Blocking is used to deflect the ball coming from a spiker. The goal is to block, intercept and absorb the ball back into the opponent's court.
