Labour MP Dawn Butler has accused police officers of racial profiling, after she and a friend who are both black, were pulled over as they drove through East London at the weekend. The former shadow minister for equalities filmed the incident, where officers can be heard saying they were searching the area because of gang and knife crime. Dawn believes they were pulled over simply because of the âcolour of their skinâ, and they were âdriving a nice carâ. She joins us today to tell us why she believes racism within the police force is âcancerousâ and needs to be cut out. Weâre also joined by former Met detective Sue Hill, who says the incident has been blown out of proportion and that the police officers were just trying to do their jobs.
