Animal Handler In Australian Theme Park Attacked By Tiger

An animal handler in Australian theme park Dreamworld has been hospitalized after being attacked by one of the park's tigers. The incident occurred in the early morning, medics were called and the handler was rushed to the Gold Coast University Hospital. The woman, one of the more experienced animal handlers employed by the park, sustained cuts from the incident but remains in stable condition. While Dreamworld officials described it as "an isolated and rare incident," local reports say the park has a history of tiger attacks. This includes a 2011 incident when a then nine-year-old Bengal tiger bit and injured two animal handlers. Dreamworld is home to nine Sumatran and Bengal tigers and is visited by two million people annually, with its Tiger Island show being one of its biggest attractions.
